Fagerudd's sustainability work
Sustainability news!

Of course we have an eco-label!
We are environmentally certified with Green Key.
Fagerudd is eco-labeled with Green Key, which means that we have taken a number of measures to minimize our environmental impact (such as only using eco-labeled cleaning products and low-energy light bulbs, not using disposable items and encouraging you to reuse your towel, among other things). It also means that we must continuously improve ourselves to continue reducing our footprint and that this is checked through annual audits. Above all, we encourage you to get involved and contribute to making your visit with us even more sustainable!
Please read more about GreenKey and how you can contribute here:
Winners eat winners
Prized vegetarian lunches as standard for lower carbon footprint and better meetings
Our vegetarian lunches were already winners even before they were nominated for the Stora Turismpriset and the Swedish Meeting Prize and also won the IACC Europe Innovations Award. Not only are they good for the climate, but many people say that they experience a fresher afternoon feeling. The lunches therefore provide better meetings as well. That's what we call a Win-Win-Win situation.

Mess for increased reproduction
Biodiversity through uncut lawns, rice paddies and fallen trees
Here and there, the nature around Fagerudd looks messy. That's because we leave large areas of grass uncut, because a well-groomed lawn is practically a desert for our pollinators and other beneficial insects. We also leave rice piles and fallen trees in our sheep pasture, where the insects can build nests and warm themselves in the winter. In the summer, we also let the sheep pasture out to summer sheep, which keeps the meadow open naturally. And we put up birdhouses and bat houses. All for the sake of biodiversity.
Sun outside, sun inside… sun in the oven, sun in a fish stick
Produces its own electricity through solar cells and only buys fossil-free electricity
On the roof of the sports hall (yes, that's right, we have our own sports hall) there are 368 solar panels. On a sunny morning they produce over 75kW of power. That's enough to run our large chef's stove and both of our industrial ovens at maximum power, and then some. So we can guarantee that your entire lunch is cooked with solar energy. And of course we have charging stations for electric cars in our parking lots.

Durable chairs can withstand being sat on… again
Renovates furniture and buys second hand
We buy a lot of second-hand and fix what we can. So if some chairs and sofas look well-used, it's because they are. But sometimes we need to replace furniture for other reasons, so we make sure that what we don't need is used elsewhere, for example at local associations or as finds at our well-visited flea market. But it's not just furniture that can be reused. Our entire large bar counter is built on parts of our old one. And we only buy refurbished computers. And in our gym you'll find used weights. Because scrap has no best-before date.
A discount for the Mayflower
Collaboration with the Mayflower
Our sustainability work is just as much about social responsibility. Every year, Mayflower organizes a camp for less fortunate children and young people, and then we help support them by letting them borrow our sports hall where they can play, grow and flourish, completely free of charge! That's what we call a nice discount for Mayflower.
We also support Enköping's best Rollerderby team: Monkey Wrench Rollers and in the fall, the pensioners' association ENA-vanderna comes and rakes leaves. We get the leaves, they get paid.

Vi gör skillnad i praktiken
Helps young and old get into working shape
Sustainability is also about getting involved in society. Every year we welcome a number of interns from Enköping's hotel and restaurant training and we get involved in the school's training council. In addition, we provide places for people in need of job training when possible. It trains us in our own empathetic leadership plus we make new friends. Win-win!
Influence those who influence the most
We are involved in the Swedish Meetings Sustainability Council
We are a tiny player. That's why we are involved in the Swedish Meetings Sustainability Council. Then we can be involved and influence those who are both bigger and stronger and more numerous than us. And they in turn influence their guests who influence... well, you get the idea.

Help make others more sustainable too
We support research to make buildings more sustainable
Through our ownership foundation, we sponsor scientifically based research and development at universities and colleges in areas such as sustainable energy and sustainable buildings, especially old buildings (because we have the most of them). So if you see someone who looks like a researcher in the field, or some sensors or other cool technology, that's the future you're seeing.
